About J&K Hay Farm

Here at J & K Hay Farm we understand the importance of high quality hay. High quality hay is quite hard to find from a reliable source. As a commercial hay producer we are committed to produce the highest quality Tifton 85 and Coastal Bermuda. There are many people who produce hay, but very few who truly strive to have the quality and concern that we have.

Our hay is of the highest quality and to do this we understand the importance of harvesting and maintaining our hay fields. This includes harvesting the hay at the proper maturity level, and making sure that the hay is free from moisture, weeds, mold, and other contaminants. We not only make sure the harvest is at the proper time, we also make sure that the land has been prepared correctly. We take soil tests no less than once per year and adjust our fertilize program accordingly.

All of our hay is cut at the optimal time according to the weather conditions. We condition the grass when cutting which allows the grass to cure faster and also aides in the ease of digestion. The hay is teddered several times before baling. One of the most important steps is that we are very conscience about moisture content before baling. We use John Deere balers which we feel that this equipment produces the best round and square bales. Our square bales are wire tired, and our round bales are net wrapped three times using the John Deere cover edge wrapping.

We harvest over 300 acres at this time in Tifton 85 and Coastal Bermuda grass and store the hay in our barn facilities that cover over 45,000 square feet.
